The Green Salon is an art/theater/performance/social experiment project produced by J. and Sarah Swank, inspired by salon culture in early modern France, experimental theater of the 1960s, and the close intimacy created in the best self-realization workshops.

J. Swank started in theater and dance, then pivoted to performance art and interactive sculpture. After 20 years, his focus shifted to the self-realization and human potential movements where, eventually, after addressing his own issues, he gave one-on-one sessions and group workshops, focusing on trauma resolution and breaking free of childhood conditioning. Here he was able to achieve the transformational experience in participants that he had always aimed for in his art.

During this time he teamed up with Sarah Wenger (then Swank) who joined him to create Deep Living, a coaching business centered on trauma resolution, around which a community developed in the 2010’s, as well as The School for Shy Men and Women. Sarah and James stopped this work in 2020 when James health kept him from working for several years.
